I’m Heather Quick, owner of Florida Women’s Law Group and I’m here today to talk to you about the three things women need to know about mediation.
What you need to know:
- Mediation is required. If your husband offers to mediate as an amicable solution, he is just offering you what the law requires. Beware, he is not doing you any favors. This is what the judge is going to order you to do.
- You must have all your financial documents. Items like bank, savings and 401K account statements. You will also need your mortgage and credit card statements. Without that information you cannot make an educated decision.
- Know the reasons for your mediation. Is it alimony? Division of assets and liabilities? Child support? Children time-sharing? You need to understand everything you are going to discuss on that day.
This is overwhelming and a lot of information, but mediations are very important. Your divorced will be finalized that day and most of the decisions cannot be changed. When I created Florida Women’s Law Group it was to help women just like you so you would be prepared to make these important decisions during your divorce. If you are feeling the weight of your upcoming mediation or knowing that the divorce is going to proceed soon call us at Florida Women’s Law Group 904-241-0012 and we can schedule a consultation to review your unique situation and provide you with the best possible solutions.
