Getting The Kids Back In The Groove For School

Author: Staff
Date: Aug 09 2023

August is here, signaling the end of summer and the start of a new school year. To ensure a seamless transition from lazy beach days to the classroom, here are some important reminders for both you and your child.

Start Getting Kids Back Into a Routine

  • Put a daily schedule in place, encompassing everyday activities, including: bathing, dinner and bedtime activities. This synchronizes their body clocks, allowing for increased enthusiasm during playtime, and even regular bowel movements.
  • Prioritize sleep time. Don’t be discouraged by initial difficulties in establishing a consistent sleep routine. This makes them well-rested for the following day.

Get the Kids Involved in Planning

  • Introduce the concept of a family calendar, where each family member can add important events such as "meet the teacher" sessions, their first day of school, sports practices or tryouts, and even birthday parties they want to attend.
    • Encourage children to also include their chores and other ongoing responsibilities on the calendar.
    • For little ones, consider using a visual calendar that can be placed in a high-traffic area of the house.
    • For older ones who have cell phones, now is an ideal time to set up a digital shared family calendar.

Get Back to Regular Eating Habits

  • After a summer filled with snacks and indulgence, it's important to get them back on track with healthy eating habits.
  •  A well-balanced diet strengthens bones, promotes healthy teeth, improves mental focus, and prevents chronic disease. Prioritize their success by prioritizing their nutrition.

As you prepare your kids for their back-to-school routines, it is equally important to take care of yourself.
